Service Manager

This role forms part of the food and beverage team at The Bay Hotel, within the Village n Life hospitality group.

The Role

As a Service Manager you’ll oversee restaurant operations, ensuring high service levels, efficient shifts and compliance with company standards. You’ll support the host manager in managing staff, budgets and reporting, while driving sales and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

– Maintain service levels in the restaurant and front office
– Manage dining room setup, catering and shift organisation
– Coordinate with kitchen, service and reception staff on reservations and events
– Respond to guest complaints promptly and professionally
– Supervise staff, conduct performance appraisals and manage rosters
– Ensure compliance with health, sanitation and safety regulations
– Oversee stock control, payroll, variance reports and income statements
– Manage budgets, cost controls and gratuity allocation
– Upsell food, beverage, accommodation and tourism services
– Run special events alongside the events manager
– Represent the property as Duty Manager when required

What We’re Looking For

– Grade 12 or equivalent (hospitality diploma advantageous)
– Previous experience in a similar role within hospitality
– Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and SOPs
– MS Office skills essential, Opera experience advantageous
– Excellent communication and leadership skills
– Strong attention to detail, adaptability and problem-solving ability
– Ability to motivate and manage both front and back of house teams
