This role forms part of the Operations team at The Bay Hotel, based in Camps Bay, Cape Town.
The Role
As Guest Experience & Lifestyle Curator, you’ll be responsible for enhancing the visual presentation and guest experience throughout The Bay Hotel. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong creative eye, exceptional attention to detail and a genuine understanding of hospitality.
You’ll oversee the styling of guest-facing spaces, coordinate memorable guest moments and implement seasonal activations and aesthetic improvements. Working closely with Operations, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, Maintenance, Projects and Marketing, you’ll ensure the finer details are consistently delivered and contribute to an exceptional guest stay.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate memorable guest moments including romantic turndowns, welcome amenities, celebrations, proposals, anniversaries and special occasion setups
Develop new guest moments that enhance guest satisfaction and encourage repeat visits
Ensure guest moments are consistently executed to the required presentation and brand standards
Maintain the visual presentation and styling of guest-facing spaces throughout the hotel
Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify opportunities for improvement and maintain presentation standards
Develop and implement styling concepts and aesthetic enhancements
Coordinate seasonal décor and activations for key occasions throughout the year
Develop mood boards and creative concepts for styling and guest experience projects
Keep up to date with hospitality and lifestyle trends and introduce relevant new styling concepts and guest moments
Coordinate styling and guest experience projects from concept through to implementation
Source décor, styling accessories, flowers, furnishings and guest experience products
Obtain quotations, prepare procurement recommendations and manage supplier relationships
Maintain stock required for guest moments and styling projects
Style guest-facing spaces for photography, videography and marketing activities
Ensure the hotel is presentation-ready for media visits, VIP guests and key events
Work closely with operational departments to maintain consistently high presentation standards
Identify and implement the “last 10%” details that elevate the guest stay
Develop practical styling, décor and guest moment standards, guidelines and checklists
Train and support operational teams on styling standards, guest moments and presentation expectations
Conduct regular quality checks and provide feedback to maintain consistence
What We’re Looking For
Grade 12 or equivalent
Qualification in Interior Styling, Interior Decorating, Hospitality, Visual Merchandising, Event Management or a related field preferred
3–5 years’ experience in hospitality, styling, interior decorating, visual merchandising or guest experience
Experience coordinating projects from concept to completion
Experience with procurement and supplier management
Strong creative ability with exceptional attention to detail
Strong planning, organisation and project management skills
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Commercial awareness and practical problem-solving ability
Strong time management skills
Microsoft Office proficiency essential
Hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively across operational departments
