Griller

This role forms part of the back of house food and beverage team at The Bay Hotel, within the Village n Life hospitality group.

The Role

As a Griller you’ll assist in the preparation, production and presentation of food to company standards. You’ll support the head chef with daily kitchen operations, maintain hygiene standards and ensure all grill orders are prepared accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

– Prepare and present grilled food according to company standards
– Ensure timely service while maintaining quality
– Customise orders as requested by guests
– Set up and maintain kitchen workstations with required ingredients and equipment
– Adhere to head chef’s instructions and recipes
– Monitor stock levels, complete prep sheets and assist with monthly stock takes
– Document wastage and follow HACCP standards
– Keep kitchen equipment, fridges, freezers and storerooms clean and in order
– Follow cleaning schedules and ensure hygiene standards are met
– Report maintenance issues and comply with safety regulations

What We’re Looking For

– Grade 12 and culinary training at a recognised school
– Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
– Familiar with kitchen legislation and HACCP standards
– Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
– Team player with adaptability and dependability
– Good knowledge of food preparation and hygiene practices
